Phipps: Remembering Vic Chesnutt and Rowland S. Howard

Friday, January 1, 2010

We lost two greats over the holiday season. Vic Chesnutt took his own life at the age of 45 after a lifelong battle with depression. I was introduced to his music several years ago and he was one of my favorites. The other, arguably more obscure, artist we lost was Rowland S. Howard. Howard was a member of The Birthday Party and recently released his second solo-album "Pop Crimes" to much critical acclaim. He lost his battle to liver disease. I've put together a brief tribute to both artists on this week's MUSICcast in hopes you'll take the time and become a fan, as I did.

Some Shows: Folks, where do we start with all of the festivities? There's too many to list here. I suggest picking up a copy of FYI Weekend and reading the events calendar.
