Press Release

Today, I have submitted to Governor Phil Bredesen my resignation as Chancellor of the Chancery Court to be effective March 31, 2009. I am grateful to the citizens of Hamilton County who have allowed me to serve as judge for the past 32 years. During my tenure, I have been blessed to have Chancellors Wilkes T. Thrasher, Jr., R. Vann Owens, and W. Frank Brown III as colleagues, and to be supported by the wonderful employees of the Hamilton County Clerk & Master. I thank my fellow judges of the Circuit and Criminal Courts who have worked to keep our dockets among the most current in the nation. Finally, I express appreciation to the members of the Hamilton County Bar for their commitment to the rule of law and to the highest standards of law practice.
