Fort Oglethorpe mayor hospitalized

Fort Oglethorpe Mayor Ronnie Cobb remained in a hospital Tuesday evening after having a heart attack Monday.

Mr. Cobb drove himself to Hutcheson Medical Center Monday experiencing chest pains, according to City Manager Ron Goulart. He was then transferred to Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cobb was moved from the hospital's Cardiac Care Unit to a regular room Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Goulart said.

Before the invocation at Tuesday's Catoosa County Commission meeting, Commissioner Ken Marks asked the group to pray for the mayor.

He said the mayor had a heart stent put in and was hoping to be released from the hospital later this week.

Mr. Goulart said the mayor, a retired Tennessee Valley Authority employee, could be back at work next week and, until then, he and council members would be filling in.

Mr. Goulart credited the mayor's quick action for his solid recovery.

"Fortunately, he was aware of what the symptoms are," he said.
