Hamilton County: Commission approves about $73,000 for transportation study

Hamilton County commissioners voted hesitantly but unanimously this morning to spend $72,872 for a transportation study required for the county to receive federal funding.

Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency Executive Director Barry Bennett said the study had previously been funded by the federal government.

County Mayor Claude Ramsey said officials recently found out that the federal government's funding for the study had been cut off, but the requirement remained.

Mr. Bennett said he would have to hire two new employees to carry out the study.
