John Turner of Collegedale and Terry Turner of East Ridge have each picked up qualifying papers to run for open Hamilton County Commission seats, according to the county Election Commission.
John Turner, the mayor of Collegedale, has picked up papers to run in commission District 8, a seat that Commissioner Bill Hullander is leaving to run for county trustee. Mr. Turner would face county school board member Chester Bankston in the Republican primary for the seat.
Terry Turner is running as an independent for the commission's District 9 seat, from which Commission Chairman Curtis Adams is retiring. School board member Kenny Smith, a Democrat, is also running for that seat.
