He serviced military aircraft while experiencing the world, traveling to the countries of Germany and the United Kingdom to name a few. During his military career, he discovered his passion for the art of photography that followed him for the rest of his life. After leaving the military, he served Warner Robins Air Force Base as a civilian, rounding out 38 years of military service.

Charles would say his greatest achievement were his children and grandchild. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Erica (with Carol Piersaul, first wife), Cayshia and Candace Piersaul (with Temetrius Shepard, second wife), the oldest child and only son Charles Jr. (with Carol Piersaul, first wife) and granddaughter, Devin Carr. He also leaves four sisters, Erma Worthy, Richmond, Va., Juanita Sands, Janette Gaines, Chattanooga, and Thelma Jean Yarbrough, Birmingham, Ala., along with four brothers Thomas, Curtis, Chattanooga, Anthony, Houston, Texas, and Spencer Sands, Atlanta. He has several nieces and nephews including Michael Worthy, Houston, Texas, and Robin Worthy, Richmond, Va. Charles will also be deeply missed by numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his coworkers from Warner Robins Air Force Base and the EMS unit who responded to Charles while in distress. He has always considered the friends he worked with as family. It was a blessing for him to depart surrounded by the people that cared so deeply for him.
