Red Bank police nab car burglary suspect and bust pot dealer

Red Bank police report they arrested a car burglary suspect and a marijuana dealer in the last five days.

On Jan. 22 narcotics officers found 4 pounds of marijuana valued at $20,000 in a North Chattanooga home and at 3 a.m. Monday another officer caught a fleeing car burglary suspect who’s stolen from vehicles in Hixson, Red Bank and Chattanooga.

The marijuana bust came after an undercover Red Bank police officer bought drugs from a dealer in the Bi-lo parking lot on Jan. 21 and 22. Officer obtained a search warrant for an Englewood Avenue home in North Chattanooga and arrested two men.

Officers also found a 20-gauge shotgun and .45 caliber automatic pistol, ecstasy powder and hallucinogenic mushrooms at the home.

One man, Michael Persinger, had possession of the drug and is believed to be the ringleader of a marijuana network connected to Atlanta, said Sgt. Dan Knight, spokesman for Red Bank police.

Sgt. Knight did not have the name of the other suspect.

On Monday night Red Bank police were looking for a suspect in car burglaries ranging from Hixson to North Chattanooga.

An officer spotted Andrew Blevins, 23, driving on Dayton Boulevard. Mr. Blevins was not wearing his seatbelt and the officer and tried to pull him over, Sgt. Knight said.

Mr. Blevins drove off and eventually crashed the car, a the stolen 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix ,on Pine Ridge Road in North Chattanooga. He then tried to flee on foot and officers stopped him with a Taser.

Police found stolen GPS units and a shotgun in the car, Sgt. Knight said.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of a head injury and then to the Hamilton County Jail, Sgt. Knight said.
