We will know for sure a little before 10 AM Wednesday, because Da'Rick has set a 9:45 presser according to his coach, Hal Lamb. It could be with a table and a hat with a "G" and a hat with a "T." If I had to wager on his decision, which I'm quite glad a don't, I would imagine he's heading to Georgia. He has been intrigued by the chance to learn under A.J. Green and then potentially be the guy after one year.

I've heard that Auburn coaches feel slightly less than 50-50 about landing Lattimore. He has a wide open door at South Carolina, which has been at the bottom of the SEC in rushing offense lately. As a whole, you've got to love Auburn's class if they can hold it together (ie no late Enrique Davis defections). They appear to have kept Trovon Reed away from LSU. Now they've got to keep Shon Coleman away from everybody.

I think the 'Dores have recruited better the last two or three seasons under Johnson than they did when he first got there, and I think his success (beating UT and UGA and going to a bowl) has reflected that. The biggest news in this year's class was getting juco QB Jordan Rodgers, the younger brother of Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers. I believe that may be the first juco of the Johnson era, and he'll have a chance to compete for the starting job this spring.

That's a unique one to ponder. He's young and energetic and did well in his biggest game, whipping Ole Miss by two touchdowns after the Bullies lost 45-0 in the 08 Egg Bowl under Croom. I thought Mullen would have been a good fit in Florida had Meyer stayed retired in late December just because he was familiar with more than half the roster. I think he would have been interested, but the timing in all this was really tough when you're making promises to future players.

If I've got basic cable (ESPN, ESPN2 but no ESPNU), can I watch that thing?I'm not going to doubt his physical ability even at his age, but he'll likely be facing someone that has been fighting since birth. My best guess is that we'll know whether Herschel was meant to do this in a hurry.

I think Bama obviously will be the overwhelming pick in the West, though the Sept. 25 game at Arkansas will be tricky because the Hogs are loaded offensively and Bama still may be merging its talented defensive youngsters with its handful of returning starters. I think Florida is still a solid East favorite, but the wild card in that division is Georgia QB Aaron Murray. If he's really good, he'll have 10 returning starters. I like Bama, Ark, LSU in the West and Florida, UGA and S. Car in the East.

That happened so quickly and seems so strange to me that I haven't had time to consider candidates there. After all the wackiness that happened in Fayetteville back in 2006,Gus Malzahn likely isn't in Houston Nutt's picture. I don't think Austin was disastrous this past year, but he sure took some time changing the focus of that offense from Snead to McCluster.

I've got a story on this for Sunday, and I don't think it's as Urban-less as people think. He has been very active all along and even admitted recently that he truly only took about a day and a half off from the job. The Gators weathered that storm in a hurry and will finish with a crop that could be as remarkable as any two or three years down the road. On paper, it's the best collection of DLs you will fine.

This likely will be Grantham all the way. Nobody around here was very familiar with Lakatos up at UConn, and it could be something similar here. Grantham and Richt have said there will be no timetable.

I think he probably would have visited under Kiffin. Of course, it now appears that former UT receiver commitment Markeith Ambles is going to follow Kiffin out to Southern Cal.

Alabama is exactly where Florida was at this point last year, the national champion with the burden of having to repeat. I mentioned the Arkansas game on Sept. 25 as being a tricky road test, but games against Penn State, Florida and Auburn are at home.LSU in Baton Rouge will be a challenge, but who knows how mad Tiger fans could be at Les Miles by that point?

Ryan Mallett is the real deal when his head is on straight. Greg McElroy is what you need in a college quarterback, and we're right on the heels of Stafford and Tebow. If you're talking about how they translate into the NFL, then the truly dark ages for the SEC were back in the late 70s and early 80s. Guys like Steadman Shealy, John Bond and Wayne Peace won their share of SEC games, but the NFL was another matter.

Possibly. The guy has won 90 games in nine years and represents the school as well as you could want, but he certainly can't afford to go from 11-2 to 10-3 to 8-5 to something worse. I think 9 wins or better and it's not even a topic of conversation, and I think 9 wins will be a worst-case deal considering there is no loss to Okie State right off the bat this year.

The last part of your deal cut off, but I don't think they will lose any more other than Dorsey. McFarland was going to gray shirt, but I don't think that's the case any more. They are battling Texas and Ohio State for LB Jordan Hicks from Ohio, and they lead for OT Chaz Green from Tampa, so an outstanding class could get even better. The one critique I have about Florida is the QB situation behind Brantley, and this was not a good year for QBs in the South.

It makes for a busy clock, doesn't it, when it goes from 12 to 65? I prefer going with the AP poll for determining the titles, because if Bama has 13 now, then Notre Dame has 21. One of Bama's more ancient titles occurred when the Tide lost twice, which makes Auburn going 13-0 in 2004 and being the People's Choice National Champs seem just as valid. This isn't to know Bama's tradition, which is impressive.

This would be a better question for Rucker, but how big of a hole are the Vols in? How long will it take them to be really good again? Is there any way to know that at this point?

I think the Vols are in for a rough 2010. Kiffin keeps talking about how he left the program better than he found it, but he left Dooley with a 7-6 team that lost 15 starters when you include Berry and Rogan. My early thought, and this won't sound pleasant, is that the UT of '10 will mirror the UT of '08, which was 3-7 going into VB and KY. Five of the first seven games are against Oregon, Florida, LSU, Georgia and Bama, with the two best chances of winning (LSU and UGA) on the road.

He never had a chance to beat out Cox this past season because of Cox's experience in the system and because he battled a sore elbow for all of September, when he could have made a move once Cox started to struggle. I'm 6-foot, and I look Cox eye-to-eye, and I think Murray is 6-1 tops. The height could be an issue, but this guy was rated behind only Matt Barkley and Garrett Gilbert in the '09 signing class.

There will be a dropoff, but I don't think it will be substantial. I always thought Marcell Darius was overshadowed up front by Mt Cody in the same manner Richardson was by Ingram at TB, but you saw what Darius did against Texas. Hightower coming back from injury is huge,.and there is so much talent like Nico Johnson, Tana Patrick and Petey Smith at LB as well. It's the same in the secondary with guys like Dre Kirkpatrick. I think Kirby is excited about the challenge (and the talent).
