Bama-GSU game now on Thursday

Friday, July 2, 2010

Alabama and Georgia State have agreed to move their 2010 football game from Nov. 20 to Thursday, Nov. 18.

The change enables Alabama to have more time off before hosting Auburn on Nov. 26. Auburn has an open date before the Iron Bowl and had the same situation last season, when the Tigers nearly knocked off the Crimson Tide before falling 26-21.

Kickoff time for the GSU game at Bryant-Denny Stadium has not been determined.

"We have a number of scheduling challenges this year in football, and this was the best way for us to deal with one of those," Alabama athletic director Mal Moore said. "We explored all options available to us, with our players' health and safety in mind. This was our best remedy. We deeply appreciate everyone's cooperation."

Georgia State will be competing in its inaugural season under coach Bill Curry, who guided the Tide to a 26-10 record from 1987 to '89.
