Tennessee: More Guard units returning this week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — More units from the Tennessee National Guard's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment are returning home this week.

About 250 soldiers from Rockwood, Huntingdon and Waynesboro are due to arrive Thursday and Friday.

Approximately 120 soldiers from Troop H, 2nd Squadron are scheduled to arrive by bus on Thursday at the Guard's Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna.

Another 130 from Troop A, 1st Squadron are expected to reach the training site Friday.

More than 1,000 Guardsmen from the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment have returned from Iraq since mid-June. The Knoxville-based regiment is coming home six months earlier than expected and all of its units are scheduled to be back in Tennessee by the end of August.
