DAYTON: Scopes Festival today and Saturday

The 23rd annual Scopes Festival is today and Saturday at the Rhea County Courthouse. "One Hot Summer," the story of how the Scopes Trial came to Dayton, will be presented at 8 p.m. today and 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday. The play tells of the economic problems of the community, the problem of a hostile reporter and the famous courtroom confrontation between William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow.

Dr. Stephen Livesay, president of Bryan College, will speak to the Rhea County Historical Society at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Spring City Municipal Building, about the history of Bryan College.
