DUNLAP: Sequatchie Memorial Park under way

A site for the Sequatchie County Memorial Park has been prepared to grade and is ready to be sown at 858 Cordell Drive.

A checking account also has been opened and more than $5,000 in cash has been donated. Several individuals have made in-kind donations: Richard Bryant for diesel fuel, trucks and equipment by Alfred Myers, Ardell Johnson, Keith Cartwright, Tunnie Lofty and the City of Dunlap.

Former members of the military who were born, raised or are a current resident of the county is eligible is to be listed on this memorial site. So are former military members who passed away but have a living sponsor in the county.

Any veteran who has not registered their DD214 form with Connie Green in the Register of Deeds Office needs to do so that local records are on file.

There will also be a section for those non-serving citizens who wish make individual contributions to the project.

An edited, hour-long DVD of the Fourth of July parade is available at the Sequatchie County-Dunlap Chamber of Commerce and City Hall. The video is in high-definition and was collected from three camera locations operating during the parade.

The "Hee Haw" fundraising show was a great production this year, garnering about $27,000 for the Cancer Support Network.

The next Chamber membership meeting will be held on Thursday from 7-9 a.m. CDT at Mountain Valley Bank Summit Room. Hardee's will sponsor our meal.
