Rants

REPUBLICANS KEEP hollerin’ about reducing the deficit, and they want to cut taxes. How’s that supposed to work, magic?

ROBIN SMITH rolls out attack ads on Chuck Fleischmann and his ads attack her. Don’t you just love it when Republicans act like Democrats!

IT DOES NOT take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you arrest the vice mayor, you will soon be among the unemployed.

IS IT TIME for curfew and bed-checks for the Vols’ athletes?

TO THE YOUNG woman in white Ford Focus texting on Hixson Pike. Too bad I wasn’t a cop. At least my honk got your attention!

I WISH THE driver who side-swiped my white car parked next to his blue truck would have left a note.

BIKERS USING our wonderful Riverwalk, please give strong, advance warning of “Passing on Left,’’ etc., and observe posted speeds when walkers are present.

HOW ABOUT some road reflectors on 2-A from Lookout Mountain to Battlefield Parkway? I can’t see at 5 a.m.

ATTENTION COMCAST: If it’s already paid for, why are we cable TV subscribers paying you for all the unentertaining “Paid Programming’’?

STATE’S RIGHTS: Aren’t we nearing the sesquicentennial of a war that was fought over states’ rights?

IN SPITE OF what you hear, the U.S. is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. There is a difference.

How do Republicans want to reduce debt and taxes at the same time? They only want the taxes on the wealthier reduced- leave the middle class taxes alone. And to reduce spending, they want the services on the lower to middle class cut to the bone.
