Rain reigns, wipes out Lookouts-Jaxx finale

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Rain washed out the Chattanooga Lookouts' series finale against West Tenn tonight at AT&T Field.

A tarp was placed on the field just before the scheduled 7:15 p.m. first pitch, and the game was postponed after rainfall steadily increased for 45 minutes.

The Diamond Jaxx (30-23) aren't due to visit Chattanooga (22-32) again in the first half of the Southern League season, so the makeup likely will be played when the Lookouts visit Jackson in mid-June. The teams will play June 16-19, but a doubleheader is already scheduled for the last day of that series.

Chattanooga is scheduled to open a five-game series with the Carolina Mudcats at 7:15 Saturday night.

Mario Alvarez (3-3, 4.10 ERA) was scheduled to pitch tonight for the Lookouts. It wasn't immediately known whether they would use Alvarez on Saturday or go with previously scheduled starter Jesus Castillo (2-6, 2.63).
