Arnold's concern best for education

Dean Arnold for School Board:

Dean Arnold is committed to providing quality education for Hamilton County students. For this reason, he is running for election to the School Board. His conservative values and creative approach to solving problems will benefit all those in Hamilton County.

The Hamilton County School System currently spends $360 million per year on the education of our students. That is nearly two-thirds of the county budget, which makes it the largest single expenditure in the budget. In addition, the school system is our area's largest employer.

Not only do parents of public school children have an important decision to make on election day, but taxpayers also have an important decision to make. Dean Arnold is committed to maximizing the educational benefit provided by our tax dollars. He believes that the school system must live within its financial means and that increased spending seldom results in increased education.

Please join with us on Aug. 5 and vote for Dean Arnold. Our school system will benefit greatly from his concern for the education of the students and his concern for the budgets of the taxpayers.

Chambliss writings will be missed by all

I was saddened to learn of the death of Jac Chambliss. Indeed, his outstanding writings will be missed by the entire community. I cherish his notes of encouragement and an autographed copy of his book.

Make statement by electing Smith

Tuesday saw a dramatic change in our politics. Across the nation, Americans voted for strong conservative candidates who were promoting common-sense ideas. It just so happens, many of those candidates who won were Republican women. It's a good thing to see conservative women step forward and assume leadership in our country and see so little made of their gender.

Here in Tennessee, we will have the chance to make the same statement on Aug. 5. Robin Smith is a strong conservative woman who has led Republicans to historic success, advocated for lower taxes, less government and the values we hold dear. She is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and has worked for years in the pro-life cause.

While others have talked, Robin has gotten things done. I'm proud of her success and look forward to voting for her for Congress, but I'm also proud that she is the best person for the job, regardless of gender. To know that she can win because of what she believes and what she has accomplished makes me very proud indeed.
