LOOKOUT VALLEY: Driver's ed courses available

The Traffic Engineering Division combined resources with Parks and Recreation and the Chattanooga Police Department to establish a city-sponsored drivers education program for city residents between the ages of 15-18.

Haman's New Drivers has contracted with Chattanooga to provide its basic five-week defensive driving course to eligible city residents for $350. Upon application, the student/parent(s) pay a $50 non-refundable enrollment fee. Once the student has successfully completed the course, the city pays the $300 balance directly to the driving school.

There is a course currently available at John A. Patten Recreation Center running July 12-July 23, Monday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. Space is limited. For more information and a copy of the application for the course, visit www.chattanooga.gov/Public_Works/70_Driversed.htm.
