Chickamauga City Schools, Gordon Lee High School and the University of Georgia have announced the following students as recipients of the Georgia Certificate of Merit for the 2009-2010 school year. The certificate is awarded in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement throughout the first three years of high school by ranking in the top 5 percent of the junior class. This year’s recipients are Victoria Anderson, Kara Evitt, Allison O’Neal, Alex Pilgrim, Anna Quinn and Taylor Shook.

Started in 1959, the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit program’s main goal has been to inspire superior students to continue their positive academic efforts and to motivate them to pursue a formal program of higher education.
