Mary Elizabeth Blevins, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
She was a member at St. Jude Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaines Edward Blevins; parents, Charles Hall and Carrie Sullivan Hall; and brother, William F. Hall Sr.
Survivors include her nephew, Peter Hall, of Waverly, Iowa, and "niece," Susie Pert, of Perry, Fla.
Funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, March 4, 2010, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charlie Burton officiating at 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga TN 37415.
Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Horace Capehart
Horace E. Capehart, 72, of Soddy-Daisy, went to meet the Lord on Monday, March 1, 2010.
He was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. Horace was a retired employee of 40 years from U.S. Pipe and Foundry where he was a third shift electrical supervisor for 27 years.
He was a member of the I.B.E.W. for 50 years. Horace was preceded in death by his mother, Lavinia, and father, Fuller Capehart.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Capehart; sisters, Linda Pittman, of Chattanooga, and Cindi Milam, of White House, Tenn.; brother, Charles Capehart, of Chattanooga; three stepdaughters, Rozella Wilson, Gloria (Mike) Capps and Janice (Eugene) Welch, all of Soddy-Daisy; stepson, Ricky (Debbie) Fox, of Soddy-Daisy; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Welch and the Rev. Don Lasley officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
David Capps, Bryan Welch, Jamie Wilson, Jefferey Wilson, Ricky Boyd all grandsons and Mike Capps will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be former associates of U.S. Pipe.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

David Adam Hames, 40, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, while working on assignment with Compassion International when an earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Howard Honeycutt Sr.
Howard W. Honeycutt Sr., 88, of Chattanooga went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, he left this walk of life in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Howard was born on March 20, 1921, in Boone, N.C., and has been a resident of Chattanooga since 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edna Honeycutt; sister, Selenia McKenzie; and niece, Joan Lindsey.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Marian (Huffines); son, Howard W. Honeycutt Jr., of Chattanooga; daughter, Sandy (Gary) Conner, of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Eric Conner and Dana (John) Owen, of Ooltewah; great grandchildren, Abbey and Jonas Conner, Kaylen and Kinsley Owen; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dennis) Linville and nephews, Terry and Frankie Linville of Brown Summit, NC; nephew, Robert Lindsey III, of Chattanooga; niece, Christine Collins, of Lookout Mountain; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Howard graduated from Cove Creek High School in 1939 and then attended Appalachian State University and The Citadel. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he was married and relocated to Greensboro, N.C., where he became the Electrical Inspector for Guilford County.
In 1949, he and his sister opened Howard Business College in Shelby, N.C. His career grew from there as he helped start a number of business colleges. Howard continued his career as vice president of McKenzie College until he retired in 1987.
Howard was an avid fisherman, a longtime member of the Chattanooga Bass Club and also competed in several Pro Bass tournaments. In later years, he became a "fisher of men" as he followed the words of Jesus in Matthew 4:19, "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
Howard, loved by many and often called "Mr. Honey" was a faithful member of Oakwood Baptist Church for 43 years, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. A love for his Lord, his church and prospective members was shown as he passionately served as Chairman of the Welcome Committee for several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church or Hospice of Chattanooga, to whom the family expresses grateful appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care provided during Howard's last days.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153 in Hixson.

Margaret Ann Johnson, 74, of Chattanooga, passed Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in a local Health Care Facility.

She is survived by two sons, Jacob Love and Anthony (H.B.) Louis Land
Louis B. Land, 83, of Chattanooga, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in his home in Red Bank.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Red Bank area born to the late Claude Land and Stella Payne. Louis was a former employee with Norge Corporation, Wheland Foundry, Lockheed Martin Corporation and Roper Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Sue Land; and his brothers, Claude and Billy Land.
Louis is survived by his sisters, Maxine Land and Betty Campbell; son, Greg Land and his wife, Barbara, of Atlanta; two granddaughters, Jessie Land and Serenity Denmon; sister-in-law, Wanda Williams; brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Donald Chauncey, all of the Chattanooga area, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to Dana and Abby at St. Barnabas, Brian Swann and especially David Packard. David displayed, to many, an unyielding diligence to his caretaking the last weeks of his life. And to all individuals who have supported and enriched Louis's life over the years.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Harvey officiating.

Billie B. Levi, 83, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Lola Keasler Berry and Miller H. Berry and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Levi; sister, Jean L. Berry Webb; and a brother, Kenneth Berry.
She is survived by a stepson, Cecil "Frank" Levi, of Maryville; a sister, Roberta Berry Lyle, of Athens along with nieces and nephews.

Ann E. McLachlan, of Signal Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.
She was a native of Columbia, Mo., and was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen McLachlan.
She had worked for 30 years in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Washington D.C. and had for many years done volunteer work for the Red Cross at Walter Reid Hospital. She was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Signal Mountain and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Augustine Chapel Alexian Village.
Survivors include her brother, Alexander P. McLachlan, Metairie, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. today, March 3, in St. Augustine Chapel Alexian Village.
Interment will be held in Durham, N.C.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Janice and Rollin Stapp, of Chickamauga, Ga., and Myrna and Mike Beck, of Savannah, Ga.; several great-nieces and nephews including, Robby (Jennifer) Mason, of Hixson, and Lori Bradshaw, of Ringgold, Ga.; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Ruth Wright
Ruth Toliver Wright, loving mother and grandmother, passed into the Lord's hands on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in a local hospital.
Ruth was born in Dayton, Tenn. on Nov. 14, 1918 to the late Clarence and Katie Lee Toliver. She was an honor graduate of Rhea County High School and president of her graduating class at William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton. She worked for International Harvester in Chattanooga during World War II and Rhea County in her later years.
Ruth was a loving child of God, who maintained her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her extended family and friends throughout her life. All who knew her will cherish forever her smile, charm and loving character. She was a wonderful and caring mother to her four sons and a loving and devoted wife to her late husband of 63 years, Frank P. Wright. Ruth made an instant impression on everyone she met with her sweet smile, gentle nature and sense of humor.
Ruth's brothers Ernest Toliver, William Toliver and Ralph Toliver preceded her into heaven.
She will be sadly missed by her surviving sons, Earl W. Wright II, of Knoxville, Robert (Linda) Wright, of Plant City, Fla., Frank Steven Wright, of Red Bank and Carlton E. (Lynn) Wright, of Hixson; her granddaughters, Amanda Wright, of Gainesville, Fla., and Kayleigh Wright, of Hixson; her sister, Shirley Sutton, of Daphne, Ala.; several nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.

Dorothy Cate
CLEVELAND -- Dorothy Olivia Bradley Cate, 83, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, at the family residence.
Mrs. Cate, who was lovingly referred to as "DeeDee" by her family, was a devoted wife, a caring mother, a loving and faithful friend, and a joy to all who knew her.
Mrs. Cate was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chattanooga and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a teacher at North Chattanooga Junior High School in the 1940s. She is a long time communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was a member of Cleveland-Athens Cotillion, Cherokee Garden Club, and the Symphony Guild. She also enjoyed weekly meetings with two local Bridge groups.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clark Cate; one son, John Bradley Cate; and her parents, John Hoyt and Marian Bradley.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Clark and Sharon D. Cate; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth Cate and Eric L. Evans, all of Cleveland; one brother, Edwin Bradley Sr.; five grandchildren, Catherine Evans Wattenbarger and husband, Marc, Emily Evans, Amy Cate Tippens and husband, Kyle, Rachael Cate and John Patrick Cate; one great-grandson Caden Tippens; one unborn great-grandson, Baylor Tippens; one sister-in-law, Harrie Cate; one brother-in-law and wife, William "Buddy" Boyd and Joy Cate; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Requiem will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Joel Huffstetler officiating.

NASHVILLE—Wanda Bostick Farrar died Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Blakeford at Green Hills, surround by family, friends and the caring and compassionate staff at Woodcrest Health Center.
She was born April 3, 1924, in Hopkinsville, Ky.
Preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Theodore Bostick; and husband, James L. Hancock.
Survived by loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Charles E. Farrar; sister, Mary E. Gore (George); daughers, Judy Whittle (Robert), Lynn Hancock; granddaughter, Kristy Fairchild, (Eric), whose presence, grace and pure love reaffirmed that miracles do exist and love is eternal, grandchildren, Graham and Emma, stepdaughters, Katy Jacobsen (Ken), Kathy Faircloth (Phil); eight step-grandchildren and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mrs. Farrar was a lover of books, antiques, quilts, cross stitch, dance, home grown tomatoes from her brother-in-laws garden, real houses and real people.

CHICKAMAUGA -- Etta B. Clift, 86, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Rossville, the Mountain View Subdivision Community before moving to Chickamauga. She was a longtime employee and friend of Robert and Al Fehn of Fehn's Restaurant.
Mrs. Clift was a member of Mission Ridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John R. Clift; parents, Zura and Grady Douglas; and granddaughter, Teresa Baggett.

Clifford Gass
ROSSVILLE -- Clifford "Pops" Harold Gass, 65, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was of the Baptist Faith. He was employed by Curbs Plus for the past 10 years as a welder.
Clifford was preceded in death by his son, Lebron Gass; parents, Clifford Lemuel and Mary Elizabeth; sister, Georgia Ann Tolbert; brothers, James Denton and Glenn Gass, Sr.; and niece, Jill Ilene.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Glenda Gass; son, Clifford Anthony (Jamie) Gass, of Chickamauga; daughter, Teresa Smith, of Red Bank; brother, Leon Gass, of Michigan; two grandchildren, James and Delaney; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the owners and employees of Curbs Plus, The Brown Family, The Wright Family, and The Bowling Family for the support and guidance through this trying time.
A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date by the family.

RINGGOLD -- Steve Shaver, 58, beloved father, grandfather and brother, died suddenly at Hutcheson Medical Center on Monday, March 1, 2010.
He leaves behind three brothers, Dale, Frank and Thomas, of Ringgold; five children, Stephanie, of Green Bay, Winston, Lisa, Shansta, and David, of Ringgold; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today and all day Thursday.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sammy Simmons officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.

TRENTON -- Verley Harverd Smith, 73, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
He was employed by Volvo of Chattanooga as a mechanic. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Higdon, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his father; three brothers, and a sister.
He is survived by wife, Arbutice Smith, Trenton; one daughter, Cheryl Morgan, Trenton; two sons, Tony (Angel) Smith, Washington, D.C., Barry (Lori) Smith, Nashville; mother, Vallie Mae Smith, Trenton; four sisters; five grandchildren, Christie, Ashley, Amanda, Zethan, Whitney; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. EST Thursday in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Smith and the Rev. Eric Woods officiating.
Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 2-9 p.m. today and noon until service time on Thursday.

FLAT ROCK -- Mary Lou Ball, 93, died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Dade Health and Rehab.
Survivors include daughter, Dorothy Williamson, Cedartown, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Marcine Ball, Pisgah; son, Jimmy Carl Ball, Flat Rock; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by parents, John and Alice Howard Austin; husband, Harry Lee Ball; son, John N. Ball; grandson, Terry Lee White; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ball; son-in-law, Woody Williamson; sisters, Irene House, Gertrude Wilkerson; brothers, Bryan Austin, Guy Austin, Horace Austin and Howard Austin.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 4, at 2 p.m. CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. Edmon Stallings officiating.

BRYANT -- Jerry Wayne Graves, 66, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
He was a loving husband, father, papa, and brother, a resident of Bryant for 57 years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Flossie Graves; infant son, Jerry Len Graves; brother, Sam William Graves.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Cartha Graves of Bryant; daughters and son-in-law, Carla Graves, and Mashonda and Mike Taylor; sister, Doris Davidson, all of Bryant; one grandchild, Keisha Gant; nieces and nephews; a host of friends.
Funeral services 4:30 p.m. EST Thursday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with brothers Glenn Thomas and David Higdon officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

Calvin Little
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Calvin "Cal" Little, 84, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.
Calvin was born in LaFayette Ga., on March 1, 1926. He was a starter for the LaFayette High School football team and after graduating he served in the United States Army during World War II. After returning home from Germany Calvin began his life's occupation as a salesman. He owned and operated several businesses.
Calvin was a member of Eau Gallie Church of Christ in Melbourne. During his 20 years in retirement Calvin was involved in his church as well as helping those in need in his community and in doing so put others before himself. Calvin was in the Word daily and often encouraged his family to do the same.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Little and Lilly Little; brother, James Wallace Little, four stepbrothers and sisters; and daughter, Debbie Sue Little.
He is survived by his former wife, Martha Little, of Spencer, Tenn.; two sons Mike Little, of Chattanooga and Scott Little, of Palm Bay, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Lynn Little, of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua and Jessica Little, all of Chattanooga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrance donations be made to Eau Gallie Church of Christ, 1079 Sarno Road, Melbourne, Fla.
There will be no visitation or service.
