Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas will perform on June 12 on the Coca-Cola Stage at this year's Riverbend Festival, according to Talent and Production Coordinator Joe "Dixie" Fuller.
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals will play on the Bud Light Stage on June 11 and singer/songwriter Jimmy Webb, who will perform on the Unum Stage on June 17, festival officials said.
Mr. Fuller said Ms. Krauss has been on the festival's wish list for years, but scheduling conflicts, including a world tour with Robert Plant, made things difficult. She is arguably the most popular bluegrass artist working today, having sold almost 12 million records and earning 27 Grammy awards, the most for any female artist in any category.
"The last time she played here, she was on the (smaller) Conoco Stage," Mr. Fuller said. "That was 15 years ago. The first time I heard her sing I thought it was angelic. She has always been one of our picks and we finally got a chance to have her here for Riverbend. It is a perfect fit for Riverbend and we are very excited to have her play. I think once again we have really raised the bar."
The Daily Times wrote of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals that she "comes across the stage as a woman possessed -- Lucinda Williams fronting the Black Crowes, or Janis Joplin if she'd cut a few albums with The Band." Her song "Apologies" has been featured on the shows "All My Children," "Kyle XY," "One Tree Hill" and "Brothers & Sisters."
Mr. Webb is a veteran songwriter with numerous classic hits to his credits including "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Galveston" and "Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell, "MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris and "Up, Up and Away" by The Fifth Dimension.
Previously announced performers are Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, the Charlie Daniels Band, Billy Currington, The Whigs, Carmine Appice's Slamm, Dan Baird, David Nail, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Drivin' 'n' Cryin'.
Riverbend pin holders will be able to use their 2010 for free admission to the PGA's Nationwide Tour Chattanooga Classic here Oct. 4-10.
The pins will be available at area Kangaroo convenience stores beginning May 1 for $30.
