Lady Mocs win SoCon title

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Lady Mocs are dancing again.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga beat Samford 72-67 to win the Southern Conference tournament and an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

The Lady Mocs overcame an 11-point second half deficit on the strength of Shanara Hollinquest who finished with 22 points.

Freshman Michelle Davis had 16 points. Jenaya Wade-Fray and Kayla Christopher each had 11 points.

Savannah Hill led the Bulldogs with 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Emily London had 12 points in the loss.

After falling behind by 11 points, UTC took its first lead of the second half 58-56 on a 3-pointer by Davis. Samford tied the game at 58 before Tenisha townsend and Davis hit 3-pointers for a 64-60 lead. UTC made enough free throws in the final minute to hold off the Bulldogs.
