Rudy Calambro, 81, of Hixson, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010.
He was born in Fort Stotstenberg, Pampanga, Philippines.
Mr. Calambro was an electrical engineer and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Calambro; three daughters, Maria Cooper and her husband, Jim and their daughter, Jaimee, of Hixson; Ruth Hanna and her husband, Steve, and their son, Erik, of Springville, Calif.; Lynne Johnson and her husband, Gene, and their sons, Chris and Wes, of Hixson.
A Memorial Service will be held at noon Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, with Father Charles Burton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church.
Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Bill Collins
William T. "Bill" Collins, 81, of Chattanooga, formerly of Cordova, Md., passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, in a local hospital.
He was born April 10, 1928 in Cordova, Md.
Mr. Collins was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Retired Sergeants Association and the Marimont Garden Club.
His parents, Ralph Collins and Mary Collins Voshell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 581⁄2 years, Rose Collins; children, Mary Collins, of Chattanooga, Connie Frankenberry, of Pineville, La., and Gary Collins, of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Ivan Collins, of Easton, Md.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 11, at 5 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel with Father Jim Vick officiating.

Kermit Croft
Kermit L. Croft, 91, of Hixson, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010.
He was born in DeKalb County, Ala., to the late Stella and Fred Croft. He graduated from DeKalb County High School in 1940. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 as a member of the 2nd Armored Division.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hixson and retired from Dixie Yarns after 47 years of service. He was a Mason and member of the Order of Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma Dean Croft; son, Tommy Croft; sisters, Ellie Harris and Louise Battle; granddaughter, Cheril Edwards.
Survivors include sons, Kenneth (Dianne) Croft and Robert Croft; stepchildren, Tom (Ina) Shelton and Vera Tanner; brother, Lloyd Croft; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today, March 10, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Darreyl Duggar officiating.
Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Jane Windle Miles, 50, of Signal Mountain, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at her home.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and past parish council member. Jane was a PTA board member at Signal Mountain Middle High School. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was a preschool teacher at Signal Crest United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Leland Windle; and her father-in-law, William L. Miles.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel "Chris" Miles; three children, Lance Lawson, Sarah and Christopher Miles; father, David Windle; three sisters, Kathleen (Billy) Driver, Meg (Taylor) Walker and Anne (Brett) Lawrence; nieces and nephews, David, Daniel and Kaitlin Driver, Lauren, Lindsey and Kristen Walker, and Rebecca, Catherine, Grace and Stephen Lawrence; mother-in-law, Beverley (Bill) Cleary; she will also be missed by her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins which include, the Sompayrac and Spittler families.

Anzie Johnson Moates, 90, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in a local health care facility.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Martha Johnson. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Moates Sr.
She is survived by two sons, R.L. Moates Jr. and Philip Moates, both of Chattanooga; two daughters, Mary Thomas, Atlanta, and Robbie Stewart, Dunlap, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Stella Cunningham
PIKEVILLE -- Stella Freeman Cunningham, 64, passed from this world on Monday, March 8, 2010, surrounded by family. She fought a brave and Courageous battle for the past eight years.
Stella was born April 27, 1945, in Pikeville, to the late W. Leland and Ruby Hancock Freeman. She was preceded in death by sisters, Della White and Barbara Ann Freeman; and brothers, George and Ernest Freeman.
She was of the Methodist faith. Some of Stella's fondest memories were coaching girls' softball, leading the Girl Scouts and the Rebound Club. She was an avid reader and loved a good book. She was a member of ABWA and insurance Women of America. Stella earned her CIC designation as an insurance professional and worked many years in the insurance industry.
She opened her home to many over the years and gave unselfishly to all the children she was surrounded with.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Leonard "LD" Cunningham; son, Tim Cunningham; and daughters, Stacey (David) Ryder and Tina Bolen Perry. She was affectionately known as Nana to her grandchildren, Timothy, Autumn and Hunter Cunningham, Callie, Caitie and Cami Ryder, Whittney Rose and great-grandchild, Lexie Rose. She also leaves behind her sisters, Betty L. Brown, Wilma Bolen and Rebecca Carol Angel, and brother William "Bill" Freeman, and several nieces and nephews.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lizzie Chester Cronan. She was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joel D. McCurdy; and one brother, J.L. Cronan.

He retired from Southern Railroad. He served as a Georgia state representative in 1956-1957, was a member of Trenton Masonic Lodge 113 and enjoyed music and playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Gross; brother, Tommy Gross; sisters, Irene Thomas, Anne Canada and Elsie Buchanan; grandson Jonathan Clark; son-in-law, Jimmy Whited.

BLUE RIDGE -- Mrs. Willard Wallis Howard died Monday, March 8, 2010.
Mrs. Howard lived for many years in East Brainerd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Albert Howard; and by brothers, John and James Wallis.
She is survived by five children, David Howard, of Marion County, Bill Howard, of Cleveland, Richard Howard, of Jasper, Ga., Shirley Copeland and Laverne Weeks, of Blue Ridge. Also surviving are a sister, Juanita Burnett, and a brother, Harold Wallis, both of Chattanooga.

TUNNEL HILL -- M. Frances Johnson, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Frances Johnson; and brother, Joe Johnson
She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a brother, Edwin Johnson of Tunnel Hill; nephews, Larry and wife, Sharon Johnson, of Tunnel Hill, Joseph and David Johnson, both of New Mexico; great-nieces and nephews, Monica and Mike Royval, Candace Johnson, Chris and Natalie Johnson; very special friend, Jennifer Lowery.
A graveside service to honor the life of Frances Johnson will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Whitfield Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Owen Skinner officiating.

CHICKAMAUGA -- Thomas "Tommy" Jones, 59, departed this life Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., to the late James Thomas and Dovie Jones, and was preceded in death by his siblings, Annette, Margaret, and Max Jones. Tom my was a member of Noble Church of God, and retired from Crystal Springs after 15 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Frances Jones, of Chickamauga; sister, Brenda Richardson, of Roanoke, Ala.; and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel with the Rev. Henry Hampton and the Rev. Dennis Chambers officiating.
Interment will follow in Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends after 3 p.m. today, all day Thursday, and prior to the service Friday.

ROSSVILLE -- Ellen Bible Payne, 93, departed this life Monday, March 8, 2010.
She was born in South Pittsburg, Tenn., to the late George Brice and Nora Bible, and was preceded in death by her sister, Sadye Smith; brother, John Bible; and her husband, Robert Payne.
Ellen moved here from Battle Creek, Tenn., where her family was one of the first to settle there many years ago, and she was a charter member at the Church of the Nativity in Fort Oglethorpe.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Thomison, of Rossville; sister, Mary Norman, of South Pittsburg; grandchildren, Wade (Carol) Thomison of Ringgold, Stacey (Bob) Byerley, of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittany Thomison, Robby and Noah Byerley; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Family will receive friends after 5 p.m. today, and prior to the service Thursday.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.

IDER -- Hollis Wayne Harris, 75, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Harris graduated from Kirkman Tech and was a retired cosmetology instructor at Edmondson Junior College. He loved music, enjoyed singing and playing the piano at Ider Senior Center.
Survivors include, 19 nieces and nephews.

Carolyn Coulter
RIDGELAND, S.C. -- Carolyn Morgan Coulter, 83, departed this life on Monday, March 8, 2010, in Hardeeville, S.C.
She was born Soddy-Daisy, on Nov. 19, 1926, to the late Wade and Jessie Peters Morgan.
Mrs. Coulter was a longstanding member of Stoney Point Baptist Church in Soddy-Daisy. She drove a school bus for handicapped children and she was a homemaker.
She leaves behind to mourn, four children, Odis Ann (Leroy) Norris, of Beaufort, S.C., Jimmy E. (Amelia) Coulter, of Atlanta, Constance Layne, of Chattanooga, Penny Peek, of Cave Springs, Ga.; one sister, Eunice Lewis, of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Bobby Morgan.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams Ave., Ridgeland, S.C. with burial in Beaufort National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
