Dalton: 4 injured in car crash

The Dalton Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating a head-on collision that happened today on VD Parrott Parkway, according to a department news release.

Evidence indicates that at about 1:10 p.m. a 1993 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Andrew West, 28, of Lansing, Tenn., was traveling south on VD Parrott Parkway when it crossed over the double yellow line and collided with a 1996 Volvo truck belonging to Phillip Young, 36, of Oakman, Ga.

Mr. West and three passengers riding with him were transported to Hamilton Medical Center with possible internal injuries, said Officer Steve Zahn with the Traffic Enforcement Unit. Front seat passenger, Elizabeth Brock, 20, was transported with unknown injuries; rear seat passenger Anthony Hill, 30, was transported with possible internal injuries; and a 1-year-old male in a rear passenger seat was transported but has been treated and released, Officer Zahn said.

As of this evening, it is unclear why Mr. West’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, Officer Zahn said.
