The continuing incline of diesel prices are raising some concerns for Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority officials.
“We’re not going to end up with a lot of money at the end of this year,” said Tom Dugan, CARTA’s executive director, said today during the board’s monthly board meeting.
Mr. Dugan handed out a graphic showing that the cost of fuel has been on a steady rise for the majority of a year. For example, CARTA paid about an average of $1.50 per gallon for diesel this time last year and is now paying about $2.05, records show.
The transportation authority will start its budgeting next month and will include those rising costs, Mr. Dugan said.
