Harvey Brazier

Harvey Edward Brazier, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully in a local hospital on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the age of 66.

Mr. Brazier was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga and a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dedicated employee.

He was born in Winchester, Tenn., and later moved to Illinois where he attended a local high school in Joliet, Ill. He began his work life at General Motors for 13 years as a press operator in Willow Springs, Ill., and later moved to Chattanooga, and was co-owner of L & D Vault Co. He retired after 30 years of service (1976-2008) from Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Harvey enjoyed baseball, golfing, RVing, rafting and a good hot fire in the wood stove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. Brazier and Ophelia Smith Brazier; brothers, Frank and David; and a sister, Martha Meneley; father-in-law, Marshall Davis.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alice Fay Davis Brazier; children, Tom (Vonda) Brazier, Robin (Danny) McDowell and Greg Brazier; two grandchildren, Michael (fiancée Megan) and Amanda McDowell; two sisters, Mary Evelyne Kirk and Debra Wicklander; three brothers, Donald, Arvine and Kenneth Brazier; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Louise Davis.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the North Chapel.

Services for Harvey will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the North Chapel with Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating.

William Bryan

William Thomas "Tom" Bryan, 60, of North Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was the owner of Apis Repair. He loved his dogs, his family and friends. He loved talking about the old times and drinking beer. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen "Honey" Bryan and two brothers, Doyle Dickson and Melvin Dickson.

The Rev. Ronald Namanny will conduct a memorial service Monday, March 22 at 2 p.m. in Grace Baptist Church.

Christian Cash

Christian Ford Cash passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 12, 2010 in Chattanooga.

Chris was born Jan. 30, 1969 in Lexington, Ky., and was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Chris's life was far too short, but those who knew him understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His contagious smile, his exuberance while kayaking and his extraordinary musical talent leave an everlasting impression on those who knew. The family of Chris Cash is thankful for your support, prayers and many acts of kindness.

He is survived by his parents, Sharon (Jack) Miller and David (Sally) Cash; grandmother, Julia Cash; siblings, Courtney Cash McAlpin, Jeff and Tracey Miller, Amy (Doug) Strohmeier and Emily (Jeff) Brittingham; and nieces and nephews.

His life will be honored with a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating.

Norman Covington

Norman T. Covington, of East Brainerd, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

He was born in Chattanooga, on March 13, 1921 and was preceded inn death by his parents, Norman T. and Inez King Covington.

Norman attended public schools in Chattanooga and graduated from City High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from UTC, in addition to a YMCA certification from George Williams College. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WW II and then in the Naval Reserve before his discharge. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, having been baptized there as a young child and later serving as Sunday School superintendent, youth counselor and on the board.

Norman was employed at the Chattanooga YMCA and was a director of the YMCA Camp Ocoee. His association with the camp started in his childhood and continued throughout his life. He was later employed at IBM in downtown Chattanooga until his retirement.

Norman was an active volunteer, serving in the Big Brother association for 16 years, Contact for eight years, Chattanooga Area Food Bank for 22 years and Memorial Hospital fro six years. He was a proud member of the St. Elmo branch of the American Legion Post 148.

Mr. Covington is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dathyne Brown Covington; brother, Edwin "Pi" Covington, Chattanooga; two nieces; three nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Chattanooga Hospice and Barbara Bennett for her years of faithful service.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, March 19, at the Heritage Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Genevieve DeHoog, the Rev. Marvin Howard and Dr. Robert Myers officiating.

Burial in National Cemetery with full military honors.

Charles Erb Jr.

Charles W. Erb Jr., 62, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday March 17, 2010.

Survivors include one son, Nathan Erb, Knoxville.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Charlie Faircloth Sr.

Charlie R. "Peanut" Faircloth Sr., 82, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 61 years, Frances; by four children, Bonnie Cawlishaw (Vernon), Raiford Faircloth (Sadie), Dolores Harvey, and Marcy Tuggle (Mike); by 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; by a sister, Marie Witt (Ed); a brother, Larry Faircloth; and a sister-in-law, Ginny Eriksen.

Charlie was one of the first country music disc jockeys. He was a gifted musician, comedian, and entertainer who played many instruments, including some of his own invention. He performed at the Grand Ole Opry and was instrumental in the careers of numerous well-known entertainers.

In later years, Charlie served as historical narrator on the Southern Belle riverboat, taught adults in the "Read" program, became proficient in the Cherokee language, and entertained at nursing homes.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the North Chapel.

Services for Charlie will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the North Chapel with Rev. David Kell officiating.

Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Ezra Hampton, 53, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, in a local hospital.

Charles Holmun

Charles A. Holmun, 64, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

He was born in Brinkley, Ark. to Charles A. "Chokie" Holmun Sr. and the former Louise Kluemper. Charles was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Charles is survived by his son, Seth Holmun; and daughter, Catherine Coulliette, both of Chattanooga; his sister Betty Ellis, of Rector; and four grandchildren, Savannah and Casey Holmun, of Rocky Point, N.C. and Ellie and Alison Coulliette, of Chattanooga.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Chattanooga.

Clyde Housley

Clyde Franklin Housley, 85, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He retired from Hamilton County Department of Education in 1994 as a school bus driver with over 40 years of service. Throughout his career as a bus driver, Clyde received many awards and commendations and was inducted into Red Bank High School Hall of Fame in March of 2001.

Clyde was a WWII Army veteran. He attended Red Bank Baptist Church. Clyde was the son of the late W.L. Housley and Melissa Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Housley; daughter, Judy (Gary) Franks, of Chattanooga; son Sonny (Margaret) Housley, of Ooltewah; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga, especially Dr. Duncan, Jill, Debbie, Rachael and Missy.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Red Bank Baptist Church with Pastors Brian Johnson and Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.

Sarah Jones

Sarah Elizabeth Jones, 28, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at her home.

She was a member of Abba's House, and was a cheerleader at Red Bank High School. She loved her daughter dearly and she will live in our hearts and memories forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Glenn Jones; grandfather, Robert L. Dixon; stepgrandfather, Leonard Tanner.

She is survived by her daughter, Zoe Alexis McGlamery; mother, Beth (Tony) Trippe; sisters, Missi Jones, Gracie Jones; grandparents, Betsy Tanner, Sue Jones, Mac (Dorothy) Jones; niece, Kaylee Cook; nephew, Noah Simerley.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel.

Larry Ketcham Jr.

Howard Lawrence Ketcham Jr. 83, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning March 18, 2010.

He was born in Richmond, Va., the son of the late Howard L. Ketcham Sr. and Sara Irwin Ketcham. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lawrence Ketcham; brother, William Irwin Ketcham.

He received his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Phillipines. He was a former member of Central Baptist Church in Woodmore where for 25 years he headed up the Junior High School R.A. Program. Currently, he was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He received six plaques from the American Oil Chemical Society for having produced the perfect cellulose product. He began his career in Chemical Engineering at the Southern Chemical Cotton which became Hercules and later opened up as Southern Cellulose where he retired as Technical Director after 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Ketcham, of Chattanooga; son, Gary Howard Ketcham, of Chattanooga; and daughter, Carol Lynn Ketcham, of Chattanooga.

Bobbie McDowell Skillington Lewis, 74, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, at a local hospital.

She was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School and a member of Mowbray Baptist Church. She loved gardening and playing her piano. She was retired from Brown Agency.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill E. Skillington and Carlos Lewis; sisters, Betty McDowell and Diane McDowell; brother, James McDowell.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Matthew (April) Lewis, of Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Teena (John) Brown, of Signal Mountain; brother, Melvin McDowell, of Chattanooga; sisters, Linda Williams, Cynthia Pearson, Martha Carter, all of Chattanooga, Freda Ward, of California; grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Ian Brown, Elizabeth Minor, Zoe Lewis.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary Phillips officiating.

Thaddeus Lewis

Thaddeus S. Lewis, 60, suddenly departed this life on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at his home.

He was a 1969 graduate of Howard High School. Thaddeus was previously employed by Velsico Chemical Co. before relocating to Atlanta. He was then employed by MARTA, where he worked as a certified electrician.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, George F. Turney Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Barbara J. Turney, of Chattanooga; father, Theodore Smith, Atlanta; fiancée, Peggy White Lewis; four sons, Rodney (Stephanie) Hammonds, Adrian Lewis, Cedric (Sharon) Lewis and Robin Davenport, all of Chattanooga; two daughters, Quintella (Percy) Hollingsworth and Andrea Lewis; three brothers, Rev. George (Rosetta) Turney Jr., Robert (Saundra) Turney Sr. and Emmanuel (Anita) Turney; two sisters, Barbara J. Atkins and Renee (Gregory) Arnold, all of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren; a loving uncle, Leo Lewis, Indiana; a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and loving friends, Lucretia Davenport and Antionette Lewis.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating.

Margot Mills

Margot Ann Mills, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, in Tulsa, Okla.

She was the daughter of William and Bertha Cutter. Mrs. Mills was born in Lorain, Ohio on June 9, 1918. She was a retired school teacher in the Hamilton County Public School Systems.

Survivors include son, Daniel F. Mills Sr.; daughter, Rebecca Mills Harrison; grandson Daniel F. Mills Jr.

Edwin Phillips Jr.

Edwin Owen Phillips Jr., 62, of Moncks Corner, S.C., died Thursday, March 18, 2010.

He was born in Ringgold, Ga., a son of Edwin Phillips Sr. and Eva Phillips.

Survivors include wife, Diane Phillips; brother, James (Velma) Phillips, both of South Carolina.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

Milton Shepherd

Milton Lewis Shepherd, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at a local hospital.

John Riley Smith, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday March 9, 2010.

Pauline Warren

Pauline Jones Warren, 92, a longtime resident of Signal Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Pauline was a longtime and faithful member of Signal Mountain Church of Christ.

She was the widow of Charlie Hall Warren, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1966. She was the mother of one daughter Martha Rebecca who passed away on Oct. 6, 1996 and she was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Pauline is survived by her grandson, Harold Owen III, and his wife, Becky; two great-grandchildren, Mary Katherine and William Owen; son-in-law, Harold Owen Jr.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT today at the North Chapel and 9:30 to 10 a.m. EDT Saturday at Signal Mountain Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday at Signal Mountain Church of Christ with Minister Greg Nance officiating.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday at Woods Cemetery North of McMinnville, Tenn.

Sarah Anderson

JASPER -- Sandra Riley Anderson, 73, died in a local hospital on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel and Ella Chilton Riley. She was a member of Havron's Chapel United Methodist Church and was a 30-year teacher in Franklin and Marion Counties. Mrs. Anderson opened her heart and her home to numerous children and foster children that sought refuge and unconditional love. The doors to her home were always open to any and all.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Wilroy Anderson, of Jasper; sons, Steve (Veronica) Anderson, of Houston, Texas, Scott Anderson, of Chattanooga, and Jonathan Anderson, of Jasper; daughter, Jennifer (Ray) Durham, of Jasper; brother, Alan (Marie) Riley, of DeVille, La.; sister, Debbie Riley of Jasper; nephew, Paul (Kendra) Riley, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Annabelle Anderson and Mitchell Anderson, of Houston.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. CDT at Havron's Chapel United Methodist Church in Jasper.

Memorial services will be conducted by Rev. Jim Diehl and will be on Saturday, March 20, at 2 p.m. CDT at Havron's Chapel United Methodist Church.

PIKEVILLE -- Robert D. "Dee" Angel, 74, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

He was a member of Wheeler Hill Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents, Oliver and Anna Belle Angel; sisters, Ada Angel Smith, Rose Angel Ruth; brothers, Lee, Clayton, and Eugene Angel; daughter, Marie Angel.

"Dee" is survived by wife, Janie Angel, Pikeville; daughters, Gail (Jimmy Don) Layne, Glenna (Tommy) Goins, all of Dunlap; Diane (Clay) Myers, Pikeville; sons, Ray (Polly) Angel, Pikeville; Daney (Vickie) Angel, Union City; Timothy D. Angel, Pikeville; oldest grandson and caregiver, Robert (Jamie) Browning, Pikeville; brother, George Angel, Chattanooga; sisters, Flossie Blevins, Brighton; Elsie Brock, Pikeville; Arva Lee Fisher, Florida; Cordie Haston, Georgia; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special niece and caregiver, Crystal; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Wright; and brother, Steve Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Wright; sons, Jeff Wright and Jonathan (Beth) Wright; mother, Frances Wright; and brothers, Mike Wright, John Wright, and Mark Wright. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

LaFAYETTE -- Roy Clyde Oliver, 87, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Preceded by parents, Henry Oliver, and Ethel Adams; son, Bruce Oliver; four brothers; and four sisters.

Clyde was a WWII veteran, of the 101st Airborne, and was a survivor of the Normandy invasion. Member of Cooper Heights Church of God.

RINGGOLD -- Gabriel "Gabe" Pedersen, 27, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

He grew up in West Bend, Wis., before moving to the Ringgold area in 1996. He was a Ringgold High School Graduate, class of 2002 and had been employed with Shaw Industries, Plant DX for more than two years. He attended The Church at Catoosa and was best known for always wanting to help others, a hard worker and a collector of many different things. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, Tom and Cindy Pedersen, of Ringgold; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nissa and (Mark) Foster, of Rock Spring, Ga,, Jenny and (Levi) Eaves and Natalie Pedersen, all of Ringgold; grandparents, Ken and Carol Bonn of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; grandfather and stepgrandmother, Kenneth and (Dorothea) Pedersen and grandmother, Bonnie Pedersen, all of Wauwatosa, Wis.; Nephew, Henry Foster and Nieces, Tia and Kayla Eaves; several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Jeffrey Eugene "Jeff" Rogers, 55, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at his residence.

He had been a lifelong resident of North Georgia for over 40 years. Mr. Rogers was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid NASCAR fan, bowling fanatic and U.T. Vols fan, who loved spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Grace Dedmon, Earl and Agnes Rogers; and father, Jim Ben Rogers.

Survivors are his mother, Charlotte P. Rogers; children, Jason Rogers, Shannon (Chad) Peyton, and Leslie Rogers; sister, Vicki R. (Chuck) Brashear; granddaughters, Autumn Slaven, Addison Bane; and his beloved dog, Baby Girl Talley.
