Chattanooga: Hixson bomb threat lifted

The road has been reopened and the threat warning lifted at Hixson and Thrasher pikes, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson says.

Local and federal law enforcement had been called earlier to the Ark Care Storage on north Hixson Pike after reports of a possible bomb threat.

Police are preparing to inspect an 18-wheel truck that has been parked at Ark Care Storage on HixsonPike since Monday.

"There's enough to raise the awareness of law enforcement," Sheriff Jim Hammond told reporters.

Owners of the storage business, which also sells propane, told police that the truck's driver filled out some paperwork but refused to show identification, then left the business and his truck.

ATF bomb experts have studied the truck noting "suspiscious additions" the sheriff said. He said the bomb experts are drilling a hole in the truck so they can insert a camera, he said.

The truck has Mississippi plates and is registered in Texas. The driver is being sought by the FBI, and the sheriff said he has "differenent views," but would not elaborate.
