Travis Carver, 45, of Chattanooga, passed on Thursday March 18, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Carver and Shirley Parker Carver; grandparents, and two uncles.

Survivors include: a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Public may view after noon today at Reuben Strickland Memorial Chapel.

M.C. Commander Sr.

Mordeis Cyrelle "M.C." Commander Sr., of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in a local hospital.

He will be remembered as the owner of Cherokee Home Improvement for many years, past president of Better Business Bureau, Campaign manager for Judge Joe DiRisio.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Hogue Commander; his children, Mordeis Cyrelle Commander Jr., Thomas Willis Commander II and his wife, Kathy, of Chattanooga, Peggy Elaine and husband, Richard Whipple, of Mobile, Ala., Sharon and Dennis Francisco, of Sale Creek, and Earl Hogue; grandchildren, Ceci Liddel Goodner and husband, Kent, Travis Holiday Keedy and wife, Aimee, Mordeis Cyrelle "Trey" Commander III and wife, Melanie, Heather Michelle Bateman and husband, Ronald Jr. Chadwick Lyle Commander and wife, Ashley, Kathryn Commander, Matthew Commander and Hugh Colman; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at graveside on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. in Lakewood Memory Garden, East, with the Rev. Dale Troupe officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday for one hour before service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Rev. Alonza Grace

Rev. Alonza Grace, 80, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010, at a local health care facility.

He served as the pastor of Harris Chapel AME Zion Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Johnny Grace; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois Jones Grace; son, Alonza "Butch" Grace Jr.; three stepsons; two step-daughters; two grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Emanuel and John Grace; two sisters, Jane Quinn and Mary Patterson; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today at noon at New Monumental Baptist Church, located at 901 Woodmore Lane with Pastor Ware officiating.

Interment in National Cemetery.

The body may be view beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to service at the church.

Audrey Gunter

Audrey Richey Gunter, 91, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

The widow of Ullman "Moe" Gunter, she was also preceded in death by a son, Mitch.

Surviving are her daughter, Wanda (Monte) Barber, of Signal Mountain; three sons: Don (Ivy) Gunter, of Atlanta, Ga., Harold and Mike Gunter, of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers.

A graveside service will be held at noon CDT Friday, March 26, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, near Fyffe Ala.

Dorothy Haslerig

Dorothy Morton Haslerig was called home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, March 20, 2010.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1924 in Trion, Ga., one of four children born to the late Frank and Susie Bell Morton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Byron Morton and sister, Wiley Bland.

She was employed by Red Food Stores and later retired from Sears Roebuck in 1984 after 17 years. She was a member of Bethel AME Church. She served in the Chickamauga Women's club, the Keys Bridge Club and was an active member of Chattanooga's Ripe and Ready Theatrical Players. She was a member of Esther Chapter #406 Order of the Eastern Stars, and a member of Florence M. Hogan Golden Circle #301.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Willie; children, Carol Newman, of Philadelphia, Pa., Joyce and Thomas Harrison, of Chickamauga, Ga., Delores and Robert Hodges, of Savage, Md.; grandchildren, Darryl Haslerig, Tamara Carter, William Hodges II, Thomas Harrison III, Montina (Donnell) Daniels, Michael (Beth) Harrison, Akeia (Morris) Reid, Robert Hodges Jr., Travor Haslerig, Jusston Hale, Marissa Shrum; sisters-in-law, Mary Ramey and Nora Marshall, of White Plains, NY, Milah Haslerig, of Jefferson City, Mo., Velma Morton, of Summerville, Ga., and Christine Morton, of Detroit, Mich.; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory her faithful extended family, Art and Dorothy Grisham, Leroy and Eulene Matthews, David and Helen Myers, Shayla Little, and dear friend, Edith Peak.

Gwendolyn Killian

Gwendolyn Parks Killian, 76, of Harrison, beloved wife and mother, entered into the Lord's presence on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Gwen was a member of Savannah Bay Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burries G. Parks and Sadie N. Parks; a brother, Donald Parks; and sister, Sue Stegall.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James B. Killian, and children, Teresa Hutcheson, Tim Vincent, James Killian, Edward Killian and Robert Killian. Gwen also leaves two nephews, seven nieces, members of younger generations too numerous to list, and many more who have known and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Gene Hooker officiating.

Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Earl Masters passed away at his home Friday March 20, 2010.

He was born May 27, 1927, and was a retiree of the city of Chattanooga.

He leaves behind four children; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Lois Annette Medlen, 50, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2010, from a local hospital.

Ella Mae Posey Bishop Merritt, 74, a resident of Harrison, beloved mother and mamaw has gone to be with the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Arthell and Susie Posey of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Rev. Ira Bishop (beloved husband and grandfather); and three infant brothers.

Ella Mae was dedicated in service to many churches over the area with her late husband Rev. Ira Bishop and served with a heart filled with love of missions. She was retired from Tennessee Baptist Convention and member of New Bethel Baptist Church and member of Chattanooga-Harrison #56 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, James Merritt, of Harrison; her beloved five children, Robin Gayle Liner and her husband, Rev. Stanley Liner, of Calhoun, Rhonda Sueanna Mullins and her husband, Rick, of Johnson City, Tenn., Ira Dale Bishop and his wife, Kathy, Daniel Arthell Bishop and his wife, Lynn, and Allen Barkley Bishop and his wife, Sandy, all of Harrison; and stepdaughter, Shirley Garris, of Nashville; 17 grandchildren; 20 precious great-grandchildren; her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Thomas and Janey Guinn, of Charleston; four beloved nieces and special friend, Cleo Williamson.

Jack Stocker, 85, died on Tuesday evening, March 23, 2010. His body has been gifted to the University of Tennessee Medical School.

His wife of 65 years, Betty; children, Michael and Susan, Michael's wife, Diane; grandchildren, Michael II, Amanda West and Christopher; Michael II's wife, Sarah, Amanda's husband, Ben, and great-granddaughter, Avery survive him.

He was predeceased by great-grandson, Blake.

Friends and family will celebrate his life at a later date in April.

Dorothy Thomas Stone, 91, of Ooltewah, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at her home.

Dorothy was a long time member of Second Presbyterian Church and a 1936 graduate of Ooltewah High School and attended McKenzie Business College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Chestnut Stone and Mary Hamill Stone; and two brothers, Leon C. Stone III and James G. Stone.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Stone Patterson; seven nieces and nephews, Leon C. Stone III, Mary Virginia Stone, James Gaynor Thigpin, Carl Douglas Thigpin, James Glenn Stone Jr., Dean Stone Pickett, Carolyn Stone Scruggs; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery with the Rev. James H. Patterson officiating.

Geneva Parlee White, 89, was given into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

She was a loving daughter of Eagle and Electa Starkey and a devoted wife and mother.

She was actively involved in her children's interests and activities. For many years Geneva and her husband were members of Olive Springs Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga.

She was preceded into the gates of heaven by her husband of 58 years, Russell V. White (1999). Dedicated and life long partners in their marriage and selfless commitment to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Geneva is survived by her children, Roger White (Sharyn), of Grand Prairie, Texas, Annette White, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Sharon Leopard, of Marietta, Ga. Grandchildren, Russell J. Nealie Ann Womack, 102, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in a local hospital.

She was a faithful member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many of the church activities and ministries such as the Deaconess Board, Sunday School Department, choir member and other groups. She was also very active in her community, being a member of the NAACP and the Siskin Foundation to name a few.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Posey and Nealie Nalls; husband, Tony Richard Womack; two brothers; and two sisters.

PIKEVILLE -- Harold "Pap" Sullivan, 81, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

He was a charter member of First Southern Baptist Church of Pikeville and a member of Cleveland First Baptist. Harold served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a retired electrician from the TVA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, James D. and Cleasy A. Sullivan; sister, Marie Dodson and three brothers, Connard, Howard and Buford Sullivan.

Survivors include two sisters, Nell Morgan (Mike) Greene and Thelma Mae Miller, both of Pikeville; special friend, Joyce C. Goins, Cleveland; 16 nieces and nephews; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

James Webb

SEQUATCHIE -- James M. "Jim" Webb, 67 , passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at home with his loving family by his side.

Jim graduated from South Pittsburg High School. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church where he had served as Pastor for 15 years, which he considered his greatest achievement. He was a member of Olive Lodge 297, Scottish Rite Freemasonry, Alhambra Temple, Fraternal Order of Police, Tennessee and National Sheriff's Association, and the FBI National Academy Associates.

Jim was a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University, North Florida University and the University of Virginia, having received criminal justice degrees from these schools.

Jim had a total of 40 years invested in law enforcement. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 25 years. He was elected to and served two terms as the Marion County Sheriff.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Coppinger Webb; daughters, Kimberly Dawn Webb, Kristi Webb Colley (Thomas) and Brooke Webb Baron (Aimel); and his sister, Bobbie Webb Tate (Clinton); grandchildren, Jayde Baron, Alex Baron, Sara Colley; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. CDT Friday, March 26, 2010, with Rev. David Harr officiating.

Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery.

A native and lifelong resident of the Fort Oglethorpe area, Randy was a graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, was employed with Wheland Foundry for 25 years, and loved Civil War history.

Mrs. Tribble was born Aug. 29, 1921 and graduated from Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Ala.

Mrs. Edith Tribble, widow of Homer E. Tribble resided in Clarksville, Tenn., from 1969 to 1997 when she returned to her home on Lookout Mountain, Ga. Mrs. Tribble was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.

She was very talented and won several ceramic awards. She was a member of the Poet's Society and had several poems published.

Survivors are her sister, Zelda Ann Giddens, of Section, Ala.; four brothers, Jack B. Giddens, of Scottsboro, Ala., Elmo L. Giddens, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Gary F. Giddens, of Lookout Mountain, and James L. Giddens, of Lookout Mountain.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Wann Funeral Home, at the foot of Lookout Mountain with visitation at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Charles Carlton

SECTION -- Charles William Carlton, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at his residence.

Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. CDT

Funeral will be today, March 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. CDT in Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Anthony Napoletan

FLAT ROCK -- Anthony Steve Napoletan, 83, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at Highland Medical Center.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and a retired diesel mechanic.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Jessie Colburn, Flat Rock, Sherry Lynn and Pat Patrick, Donna Lee and Gene Smith, all of Wisconsin; brother, Diamond Napoletan, Knoxville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 26, at 3 p.m. CDT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. CDT today and 10 a.m. until service time on Friday.
