The man accused of running over and killing a Unum employee Dec. 23 as she was walking to work entered no plea at his court arraignment Friday on charges of vehicular homicide.
Jeremy Lane is scheduled to return to Hamilton County Criminal Court on May 4 for a possible settlement of his case or to perhaps enter a "not guilty" plea, which commonly happens after a "no plea."
Mr. Lane was an employee of Chattanooga Billiard Club on Cherry Street downtown and is alleged to have been drinking after work before getting into his car and attempting to drive home about 7 a.m. Dec. 23.
He is charged with hitting Unum employee Susan Wood, killing her.
Mrs. Wood's husband recently filed a civil lawsuit against the bar and Mr. Lane. He alleges the bar knowingly let Mr. Lane drink on the job, despite a city law that prohibits bar employees from ever drinking where they work.
