The biggest news to hit Soddy-Daisy in awhile is the new softball field scheduled to be built. The Soddy-Daisy High School girl's softball teams have gathered many state championships through the years, but never had a field to call their own. May 5 marked the groundbreaking ceremony for a field on the campus at Sequoyah Road. Hamilton County will provide most of the funding and the businesses in the area have promised lighting.
The team's number keeps going down, but that is good in this case. They are now ranked No. 13 in the Fab 50 national softball team poll. Longtime coach Clifford Kirk says the entire community has been supportive.
Looking ahead the city commissioners race, it may get really interesting. Stay tuned.
