More employees laid off at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton

Thirty-one more employees at Hamilton Health Care System were laid off Monday as part of an effort to cut millions from the Dalton, Ga. hospital's budget, officials said today.

The layoffs come after eight management-level employees were told last week that their positions were being eliminated, according to a news release.

Hospital officials are looking to cut $12 million from the hospital's budget.

The move "ensure[s] Hamilton's future financial stability and the continuation of our high level of service to the community," President and CEO Jeff Myers said in the release.

Mr. Myers said he does not expect more staff reductions anytime soon.
