Chattooga deputy wrecks on way to assist in chase

A Chattooga County sheriff's deputy is headed to a hospital after flipping his car on the way to help in the chase for a drug-crime suspect.

Sheriff's deputy Cain Railey was responding to a call for back-up near Summerville, Ga., earlier this morning when he went around a curve and flipped his patrol car, Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett said.

Railey is on the way to a hospital in Floyd County with complaints of neck and back injuries, the sheriff said.

The back-up call was to help sheriff's deputies chasing a suspect who ran from them, Everett said. The chase was called off, but deputies will continue the investigation, he said.
