Seven Chattanooga convenience stores sold beer to minors during a compliance check Thursday by the Chattanooga police and Hamilton County Anti-Drug Coalition, according to a news release.
Police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said an underage buyer went into 29 local convenience stores to try to buy beer. Clerks in 22 stores checked the buyer's ID and refused the sale. The buyer was able to purchase beer in seven stores.
Representatives of those stores will appear in front of the Chattanooga Beer Board on the violation, Weary said.
