Police investigate fatal shooting

A Pawnee Trail man was shot to death Friday night while sitting outside his home, Chattanooga police said Saturday.

JerMichael Richardson, 22, died at Erlanger hospital after the 8 p.m. shooting, police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in a news release.

She said witnesses told police three men came up to Richardson and there was a confrontation that ended in the shooting.

While officers were investigating, dispatchers received 911 calls for shots fired at 4800 Tomahawk Trail and 900 Woodvale Ave. Woodvale crosses Pawnee, and Tomahawk is the next street to the south. The neighborhood is off North Moore Road south of Brainerd High School.

Weary said police arrested two men in the Tomahawk Trail incident.

Darrell Armstrong, 24, of 1621 Oak St., and Dominique Brown, 18, of 4905 14th Ave., were charged with possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

A third person at Tomahawk Trail fled on foot.

Officers found two assault rifles inside a vehicle when Armstrong and Brown were taken into custody.

Police didn't say whether the incidents were related but said the investigation continues.

"Officers found two assault rifles inside a vehicle when Armstrong and Brown were taken into custody."

Careless journalists throw around "assault rifle" as if it is the inanimate piece of metal that commits the crime.

Do drunks kill people with "assault cars"?

It is the action of the killer, not his weapon of choice that ended the life of Jermichael Richardson, a man who possibly had no involvement in drugs or gangs or other things untoward as a precursor to his untimely demise. He may have been another young man on the brink of discovering a cure for cancer as he sat on his stoop waiting for the church van to pick him up and take him to choir practice.

Or maybe if this rag of a newspaper had any investigative talent on it's staff of "journalists" we wouldn't be shedding tears of sorrow before considering if he was the same 22 year old Jermichael Richardson who was arrested on April 19th of this year for domestic assault while living at an address 1.1 miles from the crime scene.

Of course an arrest is not guilt, or a conviction, or justification for murder by thug...but....

Oh!! Could it be ??!! No!..The Irony! Was Mr. Jermichael Richardson...a...wait for it folks....
