More than 600 businesswomen are expected to come to Chattanooga for a three-day national conference beginning today.

The American Business Women's Association is holding its National Women's Leadership Conference through Saturday at the Chattanooga Convention Center, offering programs, seminars and shopping opportunities.

Adera Causey, curator of education at the Hunter Museum of American Art, will host a program at the museum on Saturday for half the attendees. Fusing art and business principles, it will focus on innovation through elements of design.

"We're going to be teaching them about how not to miss details, which is important in any business," Causey said. "They'll be breaking up into groups and have two or three different real-world scenarios. Everyone will be able to benefit from each other's knowledge."

Academic speakers will speak on strategic marketing, strategic planning and leadership for strategic change, according to a news release. Fifty exhibitors will offer attendees items such as boutique clothing, jewelry and home and office products.

"I think especially for women leaders there's always going to be a need for support," Causey said. "We will be addressing gender because it does come up in how you are seen and handle different situations."
