T-Systems filling 25 technical positions

T-Systems, a sister company to cell carrier T-Mobile, plans to hire about 25 technical professionals in the Chattanooga area for possible work with an automotive manufacturer, according to Gary Skladzien, head of systems integration delivery.

The company plans a job fair today at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Hamilton Place area from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Officials will look for employees with “help desk support, applications support and operations in a manufacturing environment,” said Michael Gelaude, resource manager.

“We’re committed to the local community and we’re hiring all local resources, that’s what our commitment is all about,” Gelaude said.

Chris Daly, director of technology development and transfer at the Enterprise Center, hopes the announcement is a taste of things to come.

“I think we need to brace ourselves for lots more of these kinds of announcements,” Daly said. “It sounds like just another continuing step in the growth of technology businesses in Chattanooga.”

T-Systems is looking for professionals with a wide range of experience, and the company plans to eventually establish a permanent base of operations here.

“When this all comes through, we will probably be building an office here,” Skladzien said. “We have done a lot of work in the past with automotive suppliers, and we’re anticipating growth in that area.”

The IT consulting firm says it has more than 50,000 employees in 20 countries, with a history of work in the automotive industry.
