Many of us long have recognized that our University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is one of the great assets of our community. It is a “springboard” of opportunity for all of us.
As this school year is beginning, Chancellor Roger Brown told the Chattanooga Rotary Club in an address Thursday that UTC is expecting a record enrollment of nearly 11,000 students!
Why is that larger number important? It’s great because it means there will be more of our people taking advantage of excellent educational opportunities. And we should realize that education can increase the potential for richer and happier lives — intellectually, culturally and economically.
More UTC students will learn more, earn more when they graduate, and produce more later, obviously benefiting themselves and all of us.
We congratulate all those roughly 11,000 UTC students and encourage them to do well for themselves — and for our whole community.
