Music on the Lawn concludes

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church concludes its Music on the Lawn summer concert series Saturday with the return of Fran McKendree.

An Episcopal folk musician, McKendree was very popular in two previous concerts at the church, according to Philip Newton, director of music ministries. Also performing will be Zammarin, an intergenerational ensemble from St. Timothy’s that performs several styles of music.

McKendree began his career playing guitar and singing with the folk band McKendree Spring. In the 1970s, he toured with musicians including Elton John, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, and Ike and Tina Turner. His guitar is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Music starts at 6:30 p.m. Picnic dinners are encouraged. Hot dogs and other refreshments will be available at a small cost, with proceeds going toward youth mission trips.

In case of rain, activities will move indoors, with picnicking in the Parish Hall at 6:30 and the concert following in the nave at 7.

A freewill offering for the musicians will be collected.
