Event mixes fine art, fine food for CranioFacial Foundation

Friday, April 1, 2011

Fine art from 10 area galleries will be part of the menu for Palate 2 Palette, a benefit for the CranioFacial Foundation of America, that will take place 7-9 tonight and 5-8 p.m. Saturday in the Southside district.

The event kicks off tonight with the Youth Gallery Exhibit, which features art from area high school students. It will be set up in what gallery owner Miki Boni calls a "rogue space" at 1601 Rossville Ave. It, along with the Living Art Gallery and the Photography Gallery, are being set up in spaces that are not galleries the rest of the year, she said.

Saturday, patrons can stroll or ride the trolley while touring the art galleries at their leisure. At each stop, they can view the art pieces, meet the artists in some cases, and enjoy gourmet appetizers and wine from local restaurants. The evening will conclude at Loose Cannon Gallery with Bubbles and Sweets, featuring desserts and champagne.

The 10 galleries are Area 61, Gallery 1401, Ignis Glass, Hart Gallery, Chenoweth & Halligan Studios, Youth Gallery (1601 Rossville Ave.), Living Art Gallery (63 E. Main St.), Photography Gallery (27 W. Main St.), Miki Boni Studios and Planet Altered.

Admission is $75 for patron tickets and $150 for VIP tickets.
