University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Stephan Jaeger has been named Southern Conference golfer of the week for the third straight week.

The former Baylor School star won his first collegiate tournament on Sunday when he shot a 7-under 209 over three rounds at the LSU National Invitational to beat runner-up Vince India of Iowa by seven strokes.

"I think it's a lot of hard work paying off and he's one of the most deserving kids for this award," coach Mark Guhne said. "He's reaping the benefits of his work."

Jaeger's performance at the University Club in Baton Rouge - which propelled UTC to a runner-up finish one shot behind No. 9 LSU - gave him his fourth top-10 finish of the season and his second-straight top-5 finish.

"I'm playing well and that's pretty much the summary of it," Jaeger said. "I've figured some things out, and I'm ready for the next tournament."

Jaeger is ranked No. 51 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings and is only the second SoCon golfer to get player of the week honors three straight weeks.

"It's good to know that stuff you work on pays off," said the German native who is pulling hard for countryman Martin Kaymer at the Masters. "My attitude was really good all last week and I didn't get discouraged."
