Whitfield County authorities are helping search for a woman who has been reported missing in Michigan and whose vehicle was found in Tunnel Hill, Ga., earlier this week.

Tunnel Hill police said they found an abandoned SUV that belonged to Amber Gerweck, 32, of Blackman Township, Mich., in a Dollar General parking lot Sunday night.

Police contacted Michigan State Police when they found out the tag was for Gerweck who was reported as missing, said Police Chief Roy Brunson.

Gerweck's parents live in Calhoun, Ga., and her sister lives in Dalton, Ga., Brunson said. But they said they didn't know she was visiting in the area, he said.

The last person to talk with Gerweck was her sister late on Saturday, Brunson said.

Anyone one with information on Gerweck is asked to call the Tunnel Hill Police Department at 706-673-5535 or the Whitfield County Sheriff's office at 706-278-1233.
