VW cancels plant event

Volkswagen today canceled due to bad weather an event that was to mark a milestone at its Chattanooga factory.

“Due to inclement weather, the event today at the Volkswagen Chattanooga factory has been canceled,” said VW spokesman Scott Wilson. He said the event is slated to be rescheduled for early next week.

VW officials have said over the past several months that they were ramping up to produce the first customer car. The $1 billion plant is assembling an all-new Passat that is to go on sale in late summer.
