A man was struck and killed by a train Saturday morning in Collegedale, according to the Collegedale Police Department.

Police were called to an area on the tracks near 9301 Railroad Ave., where they found the body beside the tracks.

Police are investigating how the man ended up on the tracks.

Police would not release the man's name pending notification of relatives.

The train and the tracks belong to Norfolk Southern Railway, police said.
