LaFayette, Ga., man killed in accidental shooting

A 26-year-old LaFayette, Ga., man died this afternoon from a gunshot wound to the head that Walker County investigators are calling accidental.

The .22-caliber rifle that killed the man accidentally fired as he was removing it from the passenger compartment of a truck in Rock Spring, Ga., according to Sheriff Steve Wilson. The man and his brother were preparing to go fishing off Arnold Road when the gun fired. The man later died at Erlanger hospital.

The names of the man and his brother are being withheld pending notification of the family.
