Highly ranked prep quarterback picks Auburn over UT and others

Zeke Pike, one of the top-ranked high school football prospects in the Class of 2012, verbally committed to Auburn on Wednesday.

The Dixie Heights (Ohio) High School junior had at least 40 scholarship offers this spring. Pike also considered Tennessee, Michigan, and Arkansas, Dixie Heights coach Tom Spritzky told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Pike, who is 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, is rated among the nation top 30 players by Tom Lemming and Scout.com.

According to the Enquirer, Pike threw for 2,135 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 947 yards and 17 touchdowns last season.
