DANTE ARNWINE
Arnwine averaged 14 points per game in the regular season, and that number improved to 16 in the postseason as the Cherokees finished 24-11 - 6-2 in the postseason - and advanced to their first state tournament since 1991. "He's an outstanding young man and was
our most consistent player all year," McMinn coach Keith Elliott said. "He took on the role as leader and exceeded our expectations in so many ways. I'm very proud of him."
KEITH ELLIOTT
Elliott had experienced the enjoyment of advancing to the state tournament as an assistant coach. In his 19th season as McMinn County's head coach, he got the pleasure of going again. As the No. 4 seeds in the District 5-AAA tournament, the Cherokees battled through five overtimes - four in one game - and reeled off four straight victories, won the Region 3 championship and advanced to their first state tournament since 1991. "The postseason was obviously the highlight, but I was really proud of how we came together as a team," Elliott said. "Everybody filled their roles, and I think that really made a difference." After a four-overtime loss to Ooltewah in the District 5-AAA tournament final, the McMinn County senior pulled his teammates around him and said they were capable of
making it to the state tournament, and he was right.
