MOBILE, Ala. -- The Chattanooga Lookouts edged the Mobile BayBears in Southern League baseball Monday night, 6-4. That improved the North-leading Lookouts to 22-15 in the second half of the season.
Alfredo Silverio's single to center field in the seventh inning scored Jaime Pedroza to break a 4-4 tie, and Chattanooga extended its advantage in the eighth when Griff Erickson singled to center to score Scott Van Slyke. Erickson capped a four-run first inning for the Lookouts with a three-run home run to right.
Nathan Eovaldi got the pitching start for Chattanooga after sitting out the Jackson series, and he allowed three hits and two runs in five innings. Making his debut for Chattanooga was outfielder Alex Castellanos, who was obtained by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Game three of a five-game series in Mobile is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Chris Withrow (3-5, 4.42 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Wes Roemer (7-6, 4.30) scheduled for the BayBears.
