Baylor and Signal Mountain didn't need preseason high school golf matches against patsies.

The defending girls' state champion teams faced off in an early-season match Tuesday at Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club with Baylor's Division II reigning champions beating the Class A/AA winners by 16 shots.

"I think, for the most part, they played at a good standard," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "There wasn't a lot of environment like a state tournament, but the golf was pretty good compared to my expectations. It was good for both schools."

Blakesly Warren led the Lady Raiders with a 1-under-par 70 and Emily Javadi added a 75. Sarah Dolmovich led the Eagles with a 74, while Andi Fisher and Jenny Adkins each shot 87.

"Blakesly's 1 under was pretty good and Emily had it 1 under for most of the day," Partrick said. "I know Sarah has a bad wheel [coming off ACL surgery] and had a good round at 74. Haley [Davidson] didn't play like normal. But again, it's early."

In the boys' competition, Baylor handled Signal Mountain 291 to 325. Danny Gleeson had the round of the day -- a 3-under 68 for the Red Raiders.

"He was 3 over through eight holes, all three-putts," Partrick said. "Then he went 6 under over the next five holes."
