Russell leads Lookouts to 11-1 rout of Suns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Kyle Russell had a home run and two triples in leading the Chattanooga Lookouts to an 11-1 Southern League baseball victory Friday night against the Jacksonville Suns.

Russell tripled to right field in the first inning to score Alex Castellanos, and his homer to right in the third followed a walk by Castellanos and a single to left by Scott Van Slyke. Russell's second triple to right occurred in the fourth inning and brought in Elian Herrera, making it 7-1.

Alfredo Silverio hit a two-run homer in the eighth to extend the lead to 9-1 for Chattanooga, which leads the North Division with a 24-16 second-half league record.

Stephen Fife allowed two hits and one run in five innings in his Lookouts debut, and Ethan Martin racked up seven strikeouts in his four innings of relief.

Game two of the five-game series is tonight at 7:05. Will Savage (11-3, 3.51 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Jose Alvarez (1-3, 5.64) scheduled for the Suns.

One of Chattanooga's starting pitchers, Nathan Eovaldi, was promoted to Los Angeles. The 21-year-old right-hander has made 19 starts for the Lookouts this season, compiling a 6-5 record with a 2.62 ERA.
