Despite starting practice at 7:45 a.m., the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team couldn’t avoid the heat this morning at Scrappy Moore Field.
Today’s practice was the Mocs’ fourth of the preseason and their first in difficult conditions. At the end of the 28-period session more than a few players were dragging, and gulping all the water they could.
After a bad practice Saturday, coach Russ Huesman said the offense was better today.
“I thought our offense got in and out of the huddle better, quicker, we had more of a tempo and I think we had more energy on offense,” he said. “I saw some good things offensively.”
The defense had another strong day for the most part, though wideout Marlon Anthony was able to get free for a long touchdown.
UTC will go in full pads for the first time Monday. Practice starts at 6:30 a.m.
