Lawyers for a recall effort to oust Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield argued this morning in appeals court that a Circuit Court judge had no right to stop a potential recall election.
Jim Folkner, with Citizens to Recall Mayor Littlefield, said the arguments were presented in the Tennessee Court of Appeals in Knoxville.
“I feel like our arguments were very strong,” he said.
The mayor’s attorneys gave counter arguments.
Folkner said he expects a decision on whether a recall effort could proceed within the next 30 days.

all this time has been taken to oust him,by the time you get the recall his term will be up. what is the use.
Of course, payinga gathered all his homes to vote they approve of the recall. Is that 60% of the Chattanooga population, paying? Or is that 60% of your homes you got together to vote on your side against the mayor?
littlefield is the worst thing that has happened to Chattanooga in years. He and the circus side show called the Chattanooga City Council are ruining the city and driving people away from Downtwon in droves. The streets in downtown Chattanooga are not safe to walk, even in the daylight. It is full of drunks and thieves and panhandlers who molest, assault and rob the unsucpecting tourists and the downtown workers. Well the word is getting out and people are talking about how bad Chattanooga has become. Littlefield has ignored the crime problem and has destroyed the morale of the police department and has pitted the citizens of the city against the county. He has put the drunks and panhamdlers over the taxpaying citizens of the city. What has he done for the City residents? He and the city council raised your taxes. What did you get for those raised taxes? More police? Absolutely not, less police, ,less police cars on the street but he has given raises and cars and "stipends" to his crnoies that make 6 figure salaries. What has he done about the crime problem? He and the city council have taken away the right of law abiding citizens with gun permits to carry them in crime ridden city parks. He posted signs that says "No Guns". Did that help? Nope, there have been numerous shootings in the city parks and the only ones with guns are the criminals. What about the crowds of unrluy teens? He started a "holding center" out of a former police precinct that has games and such for the unruly teens. Has that helped? How can it help, not one, repeat, not one juvenile has been taken there despite spending thousands of dolaars and hiring people to staff it. if the recall succended and Littlefield was thrown out even one day early it would be a success for Chatanooga, even for one less day of him. In the next election remember that Jack Benson hates the county residents even though they spend money inside the city. Manny Rico is so arrogant that he told a citizen in a pubilc meeting that he doesnt have to listen to you. Sally Robinson is a rubber stamp for Littlefield also. Remember those in the next election
On the plus side, Ron cut off River City, formerly a public/private nest of political provocateurs. On the downside, the Mayor appointed Jim Kennedy to the Library Board, but sending Stroud Watson packing makes up for that.
It's time the mayor and his top lackeys stopped using our treasury as their personal piggy bank, and stopped finding ways to shift our communal assets to their cronies. They want to cut social services, let them cut the corporate welfare going to developers and real estate moguls through the RPA, and Neighborhood Services, and all their little "citizen" groups headed by corporate- citizen insiders looking for a handout. This town needs to wake up to the exploitation, and get the bubbas out of office, if they ever want to an economic boom that affects them, not just the wealthiest among us.
You are so right lanaland. The administration has done nothing for the citizens of Chattanooga but when they leave all the Littelfield cronies will be very well off.
