A vintage F-101 Voodoo military jet fighter was moved today from its longtime place at the old Tennessee Air National Guard site at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.
Major Marty Malone, detachment commander for the 241st Engineering Installation Squadron, said the 24,000-pound aircraft was to be transported by truck from its static display location at Lovell Field to the new Guard location off Bonny Oaks Drive.
The U.S. Air Force jet that went into service in 1954, has been on display at the old Guard site since 1982, he said.
Malone said he expected the jet that carried a nuclear payload while it was operational could be back on display at Bonny Oaks Drive this weekend.
